California Proposes Ban on Classic Gas Cars
In a bold move to combat climate change, California is considering a ban on classic gas-powered cars. Governor Gavin Newsom is spearheading this proposal, aiming to reduce emissions and meet the state's ambitious net-zero carbon emissions goal by 20452. *
On the House floor only a few days ago (Nov 21, 2024), Representative Doug LaMalfa voiced strong opposition to the ban, arguing that it would negatively impact car culture and the economy and stating "Pry My '68 Mustang Gear Shift Out Of My Cold Dead Fingers"
Meanwhile, Mike Spagnola, President and CEO of the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), has written a letter to President Trump urging him to reject the ban and support the automotive aftermarket industry. **
Spagnola's letter emphasizes the importance of preserving consumer choice and the economic contributions of the automotive industry. He argues that the ban would stifle innovation and harm small businesses that rely on the sale and maintenance of classic cars.

As voters, we have the power to influence this proposal. You can petition against the ban by signing online petitions, contacting your local representatives, participating in public hearings and voting those OUT whom propose these bans out of office! Your voice can make a difference in preserving the legacy of classic cars while advocating for balanced environmental policies.
** SEMA Urges President-Elect Trump to stay the course and reject EV mandates.

I will never be able to afford an EV!!! These (climate change) Nazis don’t care about us poor people!!!! Despite what they say EVs are not non polluting!!!! Mining Lithium is very polluting!!! Most electric power is generated by coal, natural gas, nuclear, hydro-electric.
All are polluting, with hydro being the cleanest!!! Manufacturing batteries is a dirty prossess!! Tires wear out to 3 times as fast putting out much more rubber dust than gas cars! Vote out the climate change Nazis!!!!!!!

Time to vote out bad decision makers who are bankrupting the state of California. Let the Ev market grow and advance at the markets pace and not use large government grants to purchase vehicles with no infrastructure in place.

I oppose the ban of the classic cars. Car shows are a way of life in California, car shows and rallies are not an every day thing. Small businesses will be hurt by this ban, one business has already left this state. The pollution comes from everyday driving long distances back and forth to work. This is the major problem of pollution. Better commuter transportation is needed.

This is ridiculous it would hurt so much culture. It can’t happen,as time goes on there are less and less classics on the road, I love to see them when I do it becomes part of the day I enjoyed. If perhaps I get the chance I will meet this classics owner, talk I lil cars engines and make a friend you know show the car the respect it deserves check the oil I vote no and for me any reasons that is just one. Two is people have a relationship with their classic in California and everywhere you go. California citizens pay alote to live here you can’t take their cars you just cant
