More great news from California!
The Governor took another step toward its goal of ridding the state of all gas-powered engines thanks to a new bill signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom on Saturday.
The new law will ban the sale of all off-road, gas-powered engines, including lawn equipment, pressure washers, generators, chainsaws, weed trimmers, leaf blowers, and yes even golf carts now! Under the new law these 8 items must be zero-emissions, meaning they will have to be either battery-powered or plug-in.
I think the only one personally I would not care about is the leaf blower. Which as an automotive enthusiast, we all hate! It gets our clean cars dirty all the time and blows our neighbors crap in our yard. I am okay to BAN THOSE! lol!
According to the the LA Times and Yahoo News this ban will take place as early as 2024 under a new law.
How does this effect you and why the hell is this on the website? Maybe you own none of these small gas powered items and you really don't care. But you know what? They will be coming for your automotive hobby too! The only reason why you wouldn't know this, is if you live under a rock. Did you know that in September the governor of California signed an executive order in September 2020 mandating that all of California’s new car sales be zero-emissions models by 2035. The order also requires new bus and truck sales, whenever feasible, to be zero-emissions vehicles by 2045. Do you really think they will stop there? Right! What about your performance cars and parts we want? You bet! They will be coming for those if they haven't already! Did you know that in California they include in their smog checks tests for Illegal ECM Tuning? That's right! You heard correctly! More on that HERE. You know you cannot get intake here in California either right?
Do you know that you cannot get Headers in CA either? NOW the EPA has cut down on it state wide! Where will that stop?
Now I am not here to tell you who to vote for or what political isle you need to stand on, however if you do vote based upon how you been voting in CA, you possibly better wake up because this law here is only a start! If you think your voting effects other things or doesn't effect you, there is one thing it will effect... that is the automotive performance market!
I am sure every time I have told someone I cannot ship them an intake or headers to California, that person gets mad and says "That is stupid!" Well right there is a fact that we would probably all agree on "That is stupid"! If you are divided by a political party fine! (and personally i don't care nor do I want to hear about it.) There is one thing we all have in common and that is our automotive hobby! If you are fine with who your vote for that's your right. However when it effects our hobby which we all have in common... you better think about that again because this is only the start and what California will ban!
In the meantime enjoy that damn gardener blowing dust all over your clean car with his leaf blower! lol!
p.s. Before you out of staters say "F" California and we hope you fall into the ocean (which i am hoping for so I can get some beach front property! lol! )
It ALL starts in California and creeps it ways to other states. (where do you think that bear is walking above? lol!) Beware! If you think you are safe from these political ventures and things effecting your hobby, your not!
