After 28 Mustangs and a single Ruby, this high-powered SS is the focus
Prior to setting loose on the 2015 Chevy SS you see pictured, owner and builder Thomas Wright was very well known for another build. Known affectionately as “Big Booty Ruby,”
his previous build, a G8, was widely recognized throughout the social media landscape.
He and Ruby parted ways, though, when an offer he couldn’t refuse was placed in front of him.
With cash in hand and some more ideas swimming around in his head, this 2015 SS was purchased in bone stock condition and has been officially named “Big Booty Betty.” And don’t think that the “booty twins” are the only projects on his resume, as he adds, “what a lot of people don’t know is I have owned over 28 Mustangs.”
But back to Betty. Initially, things were kept mild with just a set of wheels and tires added, along with a Maverick Man Carbon Fiber Cowl Hood to replace the mundane factory piece.
And like most builds, more parts began trickling in and, as Thomas puts it, “from there it all went spiraling downhill.”
Sliding comfortably along the slippery slope of car building, Thomas attacked the engine bay with an effective list of upgrades based around its Texas Speed and Performance 418 LS3 foundation.
What you’ll probably spot first, though, is an LSA supercharger fed by a Cordes Performance cold air intake connected to a Nick Williams 103mm throttle body.
Along the sides are Kooks’ long tube headers that lead to an x-pipe and what you can’t see is the Jokerz Performance port work, Texas Speed valvetrain, and GPI stage II SS2 cam.
Fuel for the fire comes courtesy of DeatschWerks’ DW300 in-tank fuel pump which, with assistance from a DSX auxiliary pump that supplies a set of Injector Dynamics 1050x on LSA rails. If that combination of go-fast goods isn’t quite enough to satisfy, there’s also a Nitrous Express 125 shot at the ready.
To add the final touch to the engine bay, a Maverick Man Carbon Fiber Radiator Cooling Plate was added. Choosing to keep the final power figures under wraps, suffice to say that the parts selection certainly adds up and they’re serious numbers.
Some of the spirit of his previous build can be found in the look of this SS, but this time around the color is even more eye-grabbing. Much of that attention is garnered with a KPMF Gloss Solar Flash makeover performed by It’s A Wrap Automotive.
Providing even more impact are the touches of black that include a Maverick Man Carbon Fiber Cowl Hood that was only partially wrapped, the rest left in raw carbon and covered in a stealthy black stars and stripes pattern.
Other parts he found on the Maverick Man website include the Front Lip,
The LED headlights and taillights, and the Ducktail Spoiler that shapes up the rear end.
Spot it at a stoplight and Big Booty Betty is anything but subtle.
Beyond the loud color, those in the know are going to immediately notice the meaty Mickey Thompson ET Streets wrapped around 17-inch Weld Belmont beadlocks in the rear
with 20s mounted up front – both partially hiding custom green Brembo calipers and PowerStop rotors. Approach with caution.
After a few years of time spent with Betty, she now looks the part and has the power to back up the aesthetic, but it’s not over yet,
Thomas still has one area of performance he’d like to address. “After owning this car for two years and completing motor, trans, and looks, the next thing I’ll be working on is all the suspension parts.”
