The Rider
Emily Forgey is the proud owner of this snarling 2008 Pontiac G8 and this caged beast performs as good as it looks.
After being a fan of the custom car world, and sniffing burnout fumes for the last 10 years, Emily decided it was time to step up and get herself a head-turner of her own. She had always liked the way that the G8’s looked out on the street and what sealed the deal for her was seeing an awesome red G8 at a show. It was time for her to have one of her own. She and her husband scoured Craigslist and the local car listings for a while and followed up on some leads, but to no avail. Well, it seemed some higher power wanted her but in the driver’s seat of a red G8 and after finding one that suited her needs, she plunked down the cash and brought her baby home.
She immediately tore into the engine bay and gave it some extra ponies in the form of cam/intake/exhaust upgrade and then left it for about a year. With plans for a boost, Emily did her research and reached out to Torqstorm to get a kit for her 6.0 equipped G8, which fit like a glove in case you were wondering.
After her dream car was well equipped with some pavement ripping parts, Emily started her own Instagram page to not only highlight her love of custom vehicles, but to give a voice to the many ladies in the sport so naturally the page is called @ls_ladies on the ol’ Instagram. Make sure to give it a "follow"!
The custom vehicle building and racing world is definitely male-dominated, but Emily is not here to change gender stereotypes, she just wants to drive her 6.0 fast, hang out at their beloved home track Osceola Dragway and talk to folks on the street when she burbles by.
As she pulls up to stoplights, people are always asking her about her Pontiac and she takes it in stride. “People are always shocked to see a girl driving a car that sounds like it could swallow you! Or they ask if it is a manual!” Says Emily, “They never think that a girl could handle a fast car, but this is my baby and I drive the hell out of it. I have always had guys ask if the G8 belongs to me or my husband and I just smile and tell them it is my ride! Then I watch as disbelief takes over their face. It’s priceless!”
The Ride
Emily’s 2008 Pontiac G8 GT 6.0 is ripping around with a BTR stage 3 centrifugal blower cam and TorqStorm supercharger.
In the rear it has 3.27 gears to keep all that power in check. Maverick Man Carbon supplied a set of coilovers to lock this beast on the road, with a front splitter and splitter bars to complete the look.
The rubber meets the road in the form of 20-inch Niche Misano’s in the front with 255/35ZR20 Ohtsu Tires and 17-inch Forgestar F14’s in the rear with 275/40R17 Mickey Thompson ET Street Rs.
Emily has reported that she spent “way too much money to even count” and invested “countless hours in the past four years but would not take back a second because it has been totally worth it.” Her shop of choice has been Trick Tuning and Performance in Elkhart, Indiana, where they bought most of the parts and had extensive tuning done.
She would like to give a special shout out to her husband for giving her the inspiration and for help on the car itself.
